The style of Praying Mantis Kung Fu has been around for over 300 years. It was created by Master "Wong Long" who named his style after the insect praying mantis. The efficiency of its survival skills inspired this style. The praying mantis arms and claws are the distinctive features of this kung fu style. It trains the fingers, wrists, and forearms to develop a rapid attack and defense technique.

The Praying Mantis fighting style involves the use of circular motion to deflect direct force, then follows up with a precise attack to the opponent's vital spots. Speed and continueous attack are the main keys of Praying Mantis Kung Fu. The techniques involve the use of fist, palm, finger, claw, elbow, and knee. Punching and grabbing are also applied in this unique fighting style. "Bonk Bo" - the broken step or skipping step, is used to develop the rapid movement of footwork combined with horse stance, front stance, and cross step to construct a more solid stance.
