Robert
Tofel
Instructor Level 1 - Jow Ga (1st Level
Red Sash)
Robert
has long had a passion for the martial arts, studying several styles
on and off over the years, but it wasn't until he began his training
in 2004 under Master Sam Hing Fai Chan that he finally found an
art that truly fit him. In English Kung Fu literally translates
to "hard work and effort", a lesson that Robert took to
heart as he could be found training at Master Chan's Kung Fu school
as often as six days a week, often staying late after class to practice.
A few weeks into his training at Chan's Kung Fu school, Robert also
took up the gentle art of Tai Chi under Master Chan, focusing on
the Yang's style Tai Chi to help balance out the intensive physicial
training in Jow Ga Kung Fu. To broaden his practical knowledge and
experience, Robert also added both San Shou (full contact sparring)
and Wing Chun Kung Fu to his training regime in 2005, and Combat
Judo in 2006.
Robert is a
strong believer that training in the martial arts can be a monumentally
positive influence in someone's life, attributing improved physical
and mental health, less stress, and a strong moral code and discipline
to his own training with Master Chan.
Robert has competed
on the national level, winning several awards in both Kung Fu and
Tai Chi competitions. Robert is also a member of Chan's Kung Fu
School's Chinese Lion Dance Team. Robert has traveled to Hong Kong
and China with Master Chan in 2005. Looking forward to re-visit
Hong Kong again with Master Chan in 2011.
Robert continues
to study Jow Ga, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, San Shou and Combat Judo under
Master Chan and Head Instructor Brandon Golden, with a special interest
in Chin Na (join manipulation) and Shuai Jial (Chinese Grappling).
