To train Mixed Martial Arts is to train your mind, body, and spirit for the rigors of combat. It will test your endurance, your strength, your determination, and your resolve, and push you to the level you will need to be at to be a serious contender in the ring or cage.

As anyone who has been in the ring can attest, you need to have outstanding stamina if you’re to last the distance against your opponent, which means training cardio is immensely important for every fighter. Strength training is equally important to hone your muscles and reflexes, and to develop the lean muscle needed for explosive power. Your body needs to be conditioned to withstand the grueling punishment your opponents will try to inflict on you. The MMA coaches will help you to develop these areas through numerous drills and exercises, pushing you to new levels you didn’t know your body could reach.

The next major area of training is technique – like a carpenter, a fighter needs a good set of tools to work with in the ring, and the MMA coaches will help you to develop a devastating toolset. Boxing-style hand techniques, Muay Thai kicks and knees, Judo sweeps and throws, elbows, and effective use of the clinch are just the foundation of your stand up skills, while your ground game will be composed of Judo and Submission Grappling positions and submissions – armbars, chokes, heel hooks, and more are just some of the tools you’ll have at your disposal. You’ll work with a myriad array of different training equipment to develop speed and power. Improve your coordination and refine your techniques through pad drills and partner work.

Of course, all of this training can only truly be tested one way – fighting. Actual partner sparring is the best method to locate your weak areas and improve on them, and to make your strong areas even better. This is the arena where you’ll hone your instincts, learn to devise fighting strategies, and truly start to take the first steps towards being a champion. Sparring is a regular portion of the Mixed Martial Arts class, where you can work with the coaches and your fellow students at your own level.
