The
purpose of the Instructor's Program is to create highly qualified
Martial Arts teachers that can professionally promote the Chan's
Kung Fu School curriculums, and carry on the traditional Wing Chun,
Jow Ga and Tai Chi systems to future generations. Master Chan has
put years of hard work and dedicated training into creating the
Kung Fu programs. He expects the same from his students that wish
to become instructors.
The most important step to become an instructor is to first become
a dedicated student. The student must spend years of dedicated training
in the Wing Chun or Jow Ga or Tai Chi system, learning the basic
and advanced concepts of the art. The student must also realize
that knowing the system doesn't in itself make an instructor. This
is only the first step towards the goal.
Once Master Chan feels that the students has put in the time to
intimately understand all the facets of the system(s), he may then
choose to begin teaching the student how to teach. Working closely
together in a live class environment, Master Chan will introduce
the student to teaching. This usually begins with the breaking the
system and forms down to a level that a beginning student can understand.
The advanced student must remember what it's like to be a new student
and how complicated even the most basic techniques feel to new Kung
Fu students.
The instructor program directly mirrors the student program. The
instructor-in-training will build upon his teaching skills, progressing
through the Wing Chun or Jow Ga or Tai Chi system, much as he did
as a student. Only when Master Chan feels that the student has shown
dedication to learning how to teach, he will award the student an
Instructor Certificate.
