It depends a lot on what you're looking to improve. If it's your general health and physical ability, which will of course return in spades in your kung fu training in addition to more energy and the ability to take your shirt off at the beach, then I'd suggest doing some sort of cardio exercise...

Personally what works for me is Sil Lim Tao, and the basics. I've started doing "air" dummy, because I don't have one at home, and it's better then nothing, but I've also found that a better Sil Lim Tao, improves my dummy form. Getting your cardio up is always a good thing,...
